In this article, we’ll show you how to download files from a Review Link. We’ll also review how to enable downloading as the link sender. To learn about downloading files from Projects or from a Spotlight, please see Download Files and Folders from a Project or Download Files from a Spotlight.
Review Links with One File
When you open a Review Link containing a single file, click the download button in the top right.
If the link sender has allowed commenting, you’ll see two options: one to download the file itself and one to export the comments in a .txt, .csv, or .xls file. (The Export button is grayed out if there are no comments to download.)
If the link sender has not allowed commenting, then clicking the download button will just download the file.
What if I don’t see the download button? If you don’t see the download button, this means the link sender has not enabled downloading of the link’s contents. If you need to download a file, please ask the link sender to enable downloading. |
With the exception of watermarked content, downloading a file from a Review Link will download the source file that was uploaded to MediaSilo. The name of the downloaded file will match the name of the original source file. In Projects, you may have the option to download a file using its original filename or its asset title (Click here to learn more.) This option is not available in Review Links or Presentations.
When you download a watermarked file, the watermarking is still applied to the downloaded file. For videos, the downloaded file is a proxy with the burned-in watermark.
Review Links with Multiple Files
When a Review Link contains more than one file, the files are displayed in a review gallery. Click the download button in the top right to download all the files.
Note that any folders in the Review Link will not be downloaded. To download the files inside a folder, please open the folder and click the download button in the top right.
If you only want to download some of the files in the gallery, just select those files and then click the download button.
Import Files Directly to Your Workspace To the right of the download button, you’ll find the Import button. This option lets you import files from a Review Link to any of your projects, so you don’t have to download and then upload the files yourself. To learn more, please see Import Assets from a Review Link. |
When you open a file contained in the link, you can also click the download button in the top right to download the individual file.
Enable Downloading on a Link
As the link creator, you can give your audience the ability to download files from a link. When creating the link, just turn on the toggle next to Allow downloads.
If the download button is grayed out, then you do not have download permission in the project that contains the files. You need download permission in order to allow others to download files from a link.
