Learn how to install the MediaSilo Desktop App for Mac and Windows.
The MediaSilo desktop app for Mac and Windows is available here: https://www.mediasilo.com/download.
The app is supported on the current version of Mac and Windows operating systems and one version prior. Everything you do in the desktop app is automatically synced to the browser version of MediaSilo, and vice versa.
Mac Users
To install the MediaSilo desktop app, you can download either a .dmg or .pkg file. A .dmg file will require administrator-level access to your computer, since it automatically installs the app for all users of a computer.
If you do not have administrator access to your computer, please download the .pkg file. Then, in the MediaSilo Installer, click the “Change Install Location” button.
Next, select “Install for me only.” This way, you can install the app and any future updates for yourself, without needing an administrator password.
Note: You may need to uninstall previous versions of the MediaSilo desktop app to successfully install the .pkg version.
Windows Users
You can install the MediaSilo desktop app for “Anyone who uses this computer (all users)” or “Only for me.” The first option requires administrator access to your computer. If you do not have administrator access, please install the app by selecting “Only for me.” This method of installing the app also allows you to install updates without needing an administrator password.
Note: If an administrator already installed the desktop app for “Anyone who uses this computer,” then an administrator password is required to install updates. If you want to update the app as a non-administrator user, an administrator must first uninstall the app. Then, you can install the app “only for me,” so you are able to install future updates without needing administrator-level access.
