In this article, you will learn how to recreate your favorite MediaSilo Legacy QuickSites using the Spotlight Template Builder. You will then be able to use your newly designed Spotlight template to display and share your MediaSilo files.

To begin, I will show you how to recreate the "Jupiter" QuickSite theme from MediaSilo Legacy in Spotlight.

A Spotlight presentation with navigable folders and a search bar

First, in your MediaSilo account, click the Spotlight icon and choose Create New > Spotlight. This will open a window where you will enter a name and description for this Spotlight presentation. Once you select Portal to create your microsite, click Create.

Create a new Spotlight presentation.

Then, you will be asked to choose a template for your Spotlight. For this particular case, I would recommend using the "Grid - Light" template. Click "Select" on this template, and then choose "Next" to begin designing your Spotlight presentation.

Choose the Grid - Light Template for your presentation.

Once you click "Next," you will be directed to your Spotlight's settings portal. Here, you can enter your settings for the presentation, such as expiration date and audience. When you are finished adjusting the settings, click "Update Link."

Choose your presentation settings. You can always change these later.

Exit out of the settings window to begin designing your Spotlight and adding the files you wish to share.

Close the Settings window to start customizing your template.

If you already have a collection of assets and files in an existing playlist in your MediaSilo account, you can easily populate your Spotlight presentation by clicking the Playlists icon on the left side of the page. Clicking this icon will give you a complete list of your playlists. Simply drag a playlist onto your Spotlight template to add the files in this playlist.

If you do not have a playlist, you can click the Media Browser icon above the Playlist icon to select individual files you wish to add. Once you are done adding your desired files, you can begin customizing your text and colors for your Spotlight presentation.

To ensure you are displaying your assets and folders in the most efficient presentation, load your playlists in a Gallery element and choose Show Folders in the Gallery’s Settings. Toggling this option is the only way to display your playlist's entire folder structure in your Spotlight presentation.

Choose Show Folders in the Gallery's Settings

Additionally, to use this template's default search bar, you will need to select which gallery you would like to make searchable. To do this, first click on the gallery that you would like to make searchable and rename it. In the image below, the gallery is renamed to "QuadrantFilms Gallery." This is not a necessary step but may help you organize your presentation if you add any additional files or elements in the future.

Rename your gallery in the properties panel.

Then, select the search bar element in your presentation and click the gear icon on the right side of your page. Under "Element," choose the gallery you would like to make searchable ("QuadrantFilms Gallery").

Connect the search bar to your gallery.

Once this is complete, you will be able to search for your files and assets in your Spotlight presentation.

Use the search bar to locate files in your gallery.

To edit the text in your Spotlight, double-click on the existing text fields to enter your own custom text. For more customization options, including font and text-size options, open the properties panel on the right.

Adjust your text settings in the properties panel.

Next, you can edit the colors of your Spotlight presentation. First, select the element you wish to modify, and select the Color box in the properties panel. You are able to select the color of your choice, or you can enter the hex code for the color you wish to use.

Apply your brand colors in the properties panel.

When you are done making any additional design changes, make sure to click "Save" along the top of the page to save your changes. You are able to preview your completed spotlight by selecting the "Preview" button at the top of your page.

Preview your Spotlight presentation.

Once you are satisfied with your presentation, you can copy the URL link and begin sharing your presentation with your audience. To do this, click Settings along the top of the page, and then click the copy-link button.

Copy your Spotlight link and start sharing your presentation.
