Creating Custom Roles

You must be an Administrator in order to create Custom Roles on an Account.

Each Role contains a set of permissions. Permissions that are enabled allow users to perform those functions within the project on which they are assigned that role.

Once a Custom Role has been created and Saved, it can be applied to any User on the account.

On the Roles panel of Administration, select the Add Role button to create a Custom Role:

MediaSilo offers 5 Preset Roles for all new accounts:

                      1)  Uploader                                                                      2) Collaborator
                          3)  Marketer                                                                   4Reviewer
5) Project Owner -- All permissions granted

NOTE:  Roles can be edited, duplicated, and deleted. Edited roles update all users assigned that role instantly.

Here is a detailed list of the different Permissions:

View: Allows a user to view all thumbnails and content within the project.
Edit: allows a user to edit asset information such as Title, Description, tags, metadata, etc. 
Delete: allows the user to delete assets, subfolders and tags.  Please note that Project Deletion can only be done by a Project Owner or Administrator.
Upload: Allows a user to create assets by uploading them into the destination project.  Also necessary when moving/copying assets into a destination project.
Download: allows a user to download content (proxy or source), and also grants the privilege to Share downloadable content through QuickLinks.  Also necessary to move/copy a file out of the source project.
Data Export: grants the permission to export comment and asset information.

Rate: allows the user to rate an asset by using the star system. 
Comment: allows the user to post comments on assets, but also to view others comments. This also grants permissions to enable Comments for QuickLinks (if they have Sharing permissions as well).

Order Transcript: grants the ability to order transcripts.

Internal Sharing: grants permissions to Share content via Private QuickLinks. These links can only be sent to Users on the account, and will force them to enter credentials when reviewing content.
External Sharing: grants permissions to send Private and Public QuickLinks that can be sent to non-users/external recipients.  External Sharing is also necessary to create QuickSites.
